The second weekend of the 11th Dubrovnik Winter Festival will be marked by Saturday's Cake Party with Luka Nižetić and an evening performance by punk rockers Psihomodo Pop

The 11th Dubrovnik Winter Festival in its first week offered Dubrovnik residents and guests more than ever before in numerous locations, both those they have become accustomed to in previous years, and numerous new magical posts that left visitors young and old breathless. After Santa Claus from Lapland and Saint Nicholas visited numerous locations, this weekend Stradun will be marked by everyone's favorite humanitarian Cake Party organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board!

 

Saturday, December 7th will be bustling from early morning, and one of the most beloved singers is coming to the announced big Cake Party this year - Luka Nižetić! His performance will take place on Stradun starting at 11a.m., but numerous activities are available to all citizens and guests even earlier. The Uvala train runs from 10am to 5pm every day, and the Lapad ice rink is open from 10a.m. to 11p.m. The Mokošica ice rink is open from 10a.m. to 10p.m.

 

Educational thematic guided tours of the City continue, in Croatian and English, organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. Free tours will depart on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (English) and 12:30 p.m. (Croatian) in front of the Tourist Information Center in Pile. At 10 a.m., the Bunić-Kaboga Mansion will also host "Great Heritage in Small Hearts," a music workshop for school-age children organized by Dubrovnik Heritage. At 10 a.m., workshops from the Natural History Christmas Workshops series will also continue, led by employees of the Dubrovnik Natural History Museum. To make Saturday morning in the City unforgettable, from 11:30 a.m. in front of the Church of St. Blaise, Dubrovnik residents and their guests can enjoy folklore performances by various groups. At the Valamar Lacroma Hotel, the 5th round of the chess tournament: "Open Dubrovnik Advent" will continue at 1 p.m., while the 6th round will be held at 5 p.m.

 

"Colorful Winter in Lapad Bay", organized by the Board of Education, Sports, Social Welfare and Civil Society, has a program for children for the second Saturday in a row, and the hours are from 1 p.m.: the "Logical Builder" workshop of the Technical Culture Community of the City of Dubrovnik and the "Futura" Association (Esperanza Café), from 1:30 p.m: "Colorful Dance Collage" by the DuPoint dance studio and the Step'n Jazz Dubrovnik dance studio (stage by the fountain), and at 2:30 p.m.: a puppet show for children by the Kolarin theater company "Hedgehog's House" (stage by the fountain).

 

The continuation of the program under the leadership of the same administrative department of the City of Dubrovnik will bring together all creative people with events for children and youth at the Parish of the Holy Savior in Mokošica. At 2p.m., a painting workshop organized by Art Studio Kantunić "Christmas Magic" will begin, from 3pm there will be a story-telling, art and dance workshop "Joy of the World" by the "Et Ješua" association, and then at 4:30p.m. "Kolenda Mokošica" will begin. At 5p.m., a Christmas creative workshop organized by the Our Children Society will follow!

 

The youngest will be entertained by a children's play called "Šapice" at the Marin Držić Theater at 5p.m. and 6p.m. The lighting of the second Advent candle, which represents a symbol of love, will take place in front of the Rector's Palace at 7p.m., and the very end of Saturday is reserved for a concert by Psihomodo Pop on Stradun, which will begin at 9p.m.

 

Sunday, December 8th starts at 10a.m. with the children's play "Šapice" at the Marin Držić Theatre, also at 10a.m. at the Valamar Lacroma Hotel. The 7th and final round of the "Open Dubrovnik Advent" chess tournament will take place. At 10:40a.m. in the Church of the Holy Savior in Mokošica, there will be a play "Trala la la la la doć' će Sveti Nikola" performed by religious educators from DV Mala kuća. At 8p.m., "Matrimonio" directed by Paolo Tišljarić will be performed on the KMD Main Stage, produced by the Kolarin theatre company.

 

Monday, December 9th, at 5p.m. in the hall of the parish of the Holy Savior in Mokošica, a Christmas cookie making workshop "3, 2, 1 bake" will begin. At 6p.m., the Dubrovnik Libraries in the City branch are organizing the Pilgrim Manager – How the Camino Changes Your Life in 30 Days, with the following participants: Tomislav Birtić, Boris Trupčević and Ivana Grkeš.

 

On Tuesday, December 10th, from 5p.m., a Christmas art workshop called “Silent Night” will be organized in the atrium of the Dubrovnik Art Gallery. At Lazareti from 6p.m., there will be a traditional concert by the Dubrovnik Children's Choir called “From Bathing to Christmas”. “Advent on Vojnović” from 8p.m. will host the duo Matko and Brane in the Student Dormitory.

 

Wednesday, December 11th at 11a.m., the Marin Držić Theater will host a play for children called “Cvilidreta”, directed by Tamara Damjanović. Ivana Jelača's concert walk entitled "Play Dubrovnik" will start at 5 p.m. from the Rector's Palace towards Saloča of Mirrors, and the program is in collaboration with the Dubrovnik Libraries and Dubrovnik Museums with the support of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. The program "In anticipation of Christmas in Mokošica" will start at 5:30 p.m., and the play "Little Red Riding Hood" will be performed by the "Butterflies" group from the "Pčelica" kindergarten. The Dubrovnik Art Gallery will present the exhibition "Vlaho Bukovac and portraits of Dubrovnik families" to the public at the Dulčić Masle Pulitika gallery, with a ceremonial opening.

 

Thursday, December 12th begins with a play for children "Cvilidreta" at 11a.m. at the Marin Držić Theatre. The Lazareti Art Workshop, in collaboration with neighbors, artists, craftspeople and hobbyists, opens the Neighborhood Fair at 3p.m. in the 10th Nadja. The atrium of the Dubrovnik Art Gallery at 5p.m. will host a Christmas art workshop "Silent Night". The "Mala Kuća" kindergarten will host a play "Saint Nicholas" at 5:30p.m., performed by the teachers of the "Mala Kuća" kindergarten, and a performance of "Merry Christmas, Grada" by the musical group "The Little Prince". The Dubrovnik Museums in the Rector's Palace will open the exhibition "Silk Damask of the Rector's Palace - the Official Uniform of the Dubrovnik Republic" at 7p.m.

 

Friday, December 13th, the Neighborhood Fair continues at 11a.m. in the 10th aisle of the Lazaret, also at the Marin Držić Theatre at 11a.m., the play "Cvilidreta" directed by Tamara Damjanović will be performed. Grinching on Lovrjenac at 5p.m. will delight the youngest, and the program is organized by the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities. At 6pm, the Dubrovnik Libraries in the City branch are organizing a storytime and workshop for children called "St. Lucia's Wheat".

 

In the park under the bridge on Ploče at 7p.m., there will be a presentation of the nativity scene, which is also a gift from Sorrento, a city friend of Dubrovnik. At 8p.m., the Linđo Folklore Ensemble will hold a traditional humanitarian concert for the needs of the blind of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the feast of St. Lucia, the patron saint of the blind and visually impaired. "Advent on Vojnović" will host Mate Bulić at 8p.m. in front of the Student Dormitory.

 

In order to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible to attend all the programs of the Dubrovnik Winter Festival, the city administration has provided all citizens and guests with free transportation on Libertas buses on city lines in the afternoon and at night. Also, the price of the DU Pass, a joint ticket to the most important Dubrovnik attractions, has been reduced from 35 to just 15 euros, and the price of the ticket for the city walls has also been reduced.

 

The City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, in cooperation with cultural institutions and public companies, are preparing a wide range of events for citizens and visitors of all ages. This year's, 11th Dubrovnik Winter Festival awaits you in full splendor!
